Makabayan Wear is a social business that started in the UK and is now expanding worldwide. Makabayan translates to ‘patriotic’ in the  Filipino language. They believe that one way to help the Philippines is to partner with traditional artisans, indigenous groups, cooperatives or fellow social enterprises across the Philippines.

Makabayan Wear sources the hand-woven textiles and hand-embroidered home and fashion accessories produced directly from small indigenous communities to help sustain their livelihood during the challenging times of pandemic. 

Makabayan Wear works with likeminded retailers to promote these products beyond the Philippines in a way that honors Filipino indigenous roots, culture and craftsmanship.
